Google is very interested in the text of a web page, and also where to.Lots links and many links to different sites must be relevant - if they are links to sites unrelated to Google is not placed as high as a page full of links. Yahoo often include a full page and full of one word in particular - once the owner has said on several occasions to try and improve search results.

Big difference from the search engines. According to Hitwise, an online service intellegence in a report released today, Google has received 68.29% of U.S. searches in May 2008 - an increase of 5% over the same period last year. Yahoo received 19.95% of searches in the United States - a decrease of 0.33% over last year. Report shows Google rocking in the United Kingdom with 87.3% of all searches in the same period by the tug Yahoo with only 4.09%.

Yahoo's customer is the advertiser. Google's customer is you and me. That's why Google has been more successful.According to the New York Times article, "The biggest thing for Yahoo is increasing the number of pages people consume and slapping as many display ads as possible across those pages.
